Gennette Clacken is an Instructional Designer and Educational Technologist who has served the education sector in Jamaica for over twenty (20) years. She is currently employed by the Caribbean Examinations Council, where she has specific responsibility for the CXC® Learning Institute. Prior to her joining the CXC®, Mrs Clacken was employed the HEART NSTA Trust for fifteen years, where she served in various capacities, including Distance Education Coordinator and Vice-Principal of Academics at the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI).
Gennette is currently a doctoral candidate at Walden University (Minneapolis, USA), specializing in Educational Technology and Design. She holds a master’s degree in Teacher Education from the University of the West Indies, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Online Education and Training from the University of London. She believes education should be a liberatory experience (Freire, 1972) resulting in the individual becoming his or her best self - and in so doing, facilitating community and societal transformation (Bramheld, 2021).
