Dr. María Castelló is an Associate Researcher at the Clemente Estable Research Institute, Scientist at the Uruguayan Program for the Development of Basic Sciences and the National System of Scientists, and was an IBRO/IBE-UNESCO Science of Learning Fellow. She is also the ideologist of the LATBrain initiative and an Alternate Member of its Strategic Planning Steering Committee. María is also a Volunteer of the Advisory Council of Girls in Tech Uruguay and Founder and Deputy Secretary of Fibras.org. María leads the Neural Development and Evolution Research Group whose main lines of research are the development and evolution of sensorimotor neural networks, neurobiological and psychological bases of practices aimed at well-being and health (Mindfulness Self-Compassion and Yoga), and science education with a focus on Critical Thinking and the Nature of Science, Technology. & Society. She has extensive face-to-face and virtual undergraduate and postgraduate Uruguayan and Latin American (IBRO-LARC; ISN; SAIB/PABMB/IUBMB) teaching experience in Neurosciences, Developmental Neurobiology, Histology, Microscopy, and Open-Source Technologies.
