Patrice Morgan, Ed.D., is an Assistant Professor of Education for the City University of New York (CUNY). The majority of her teaching focuses on preparing pre - service teachers to enter classrooms in a professional manner with the confidence needed to engage the minds of their future students. Dr. Morgan’s research is centered around motivational factors impacting student success and her areas of interest include cultural competence, civic engagement, and enhancing the profession through collaborative practices.
Prior to embarking on her career in Higher Ed., Dr. Morgan spent over ten years as a classroom teacher then brought her passion for professional development to her role as a building Principal of a K – 5 Charter School in Harlem, NY. Dr. Morgan is dedicated to building communities of practice that focus on identifying student needs. Whether a classroom is filled with early childhood scholars or adult learners, Dr. Morgan creates safe learning environments and facilitates powerful and engaging lessons.
In recent months, Dr. Morgan has begun gathering data on student engagement as it relates to online learning. As Covid – 19 has put enormous demands on educators of all levels, Dr. Morgan has recognized the impact of teaching strategies and the need for reflective practices to increase student motivation and academic performance. This research has given Dr. Morgan the opportunity to expose undergraduate students to the importance of educational research and they are working together to analyze collected data that will be presented in a peer reviewed journal.
Dr. Morgan understands the need to consistently learn and grow based on the needs of society and it is her intent to bring educators together to benefit scholars of the future across the globe.
